Shreveport, LA – Residents should prepare for a week of unsettled weather as severe storms and heavy rain threaten the region. According to the National Weather Service, periods of widespread rainfall and the potential for strong thunderstorms are expected through Friday, raising concerns about flash flooding and travel disruptions.

The forecast calls for heavy rain totals of 3 to 4 inches across much of the area by week’s end, with isolated spots possibly exceeding that amount. Thunderstorms today and Thursday are expected to bring damaging winds and the potential for isolated tornadoes. Residents should avoid driving through flooded roadways and remain indoors during severe weather alerts.

Tuesday’s high will reach 68 degrees with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms increasing into the evening. Rainfall is expected to intensify tonight with an 80% chance of storms, producing 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall.

Christmas Day looks cloudy, with a 40% chance of showers and storms lingering into the morning. Temperatures will hover near 65 degrees before rain tapers off by the afternoon. Conditions will improve slightly Thursday with highs in the upper 60s, though another round of storms may arrive Thursday night.

Drivers on I-20 and local roadways are urged to monitor conditions and stay updated on weather advisories. Clearing skies are expected by Saturday, with highs near 70 degrees offering a drier weekend outlook.
