Calais, ME – Coastal and Central Washington counties are bracing for heavy snowfall as a Winter Storm Warning has been issued from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, areas including Machias, Perry, and Eastport can expect snow accumulations between 6 and 9 inches. The storm is projected to significantly impact travel during both the morning and evening commutes on Tuesday, with hazardous road conditions likely.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. For those who must be on the road, officials recommend keeping an emergency kit, including a flashlight, food, and water, in vehicles.
