Crescent, OK – A minor earthquake shook the Crescent area early Sunday morning, sparking local concern despite its low magnitude.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 2.5-magnitude earthquake 7 kilometers north of Crescent at 2:29 a.m. The tremor originated 24.9 kilometers beneath the surface, making it relatively deep for earthquakes in the region. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

According to USGS data, the quake was categorized as minor, with limited potential to cause significant disruption. However, residents within the vicinity reportedly felt a brief shaking. Crescent is located approximately 40 miles north of Oklahoma City, an area known for occasional seismic activity linked to natural and induced causes.

While Sunday’s earthquake posed no major threat, experts encourage Oklahoma residents to remain informed about earthquake preparedness. Keeping emergency supplies and reviewing safety plans can help mitigate risks during future events.
