SF Giants hire Bobby Evans as advisor to Buster Posey: report

As Buster Posey navigates his inaugural season as the Giants’ president of baseball operations, he’ll have a familiar face in his corner to offer guidance.

The Giants are hiring former general manager Bobby Evans as an advisor to Posey, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. San Francisco will also be hiring Jeff Berry as an advisor as well. Berry was Posey’s agent at CAA but left earlier this year.

Evans served as San Francisco’s general manager from 2015-18 and was fired prior to the final week of the ’18 season. During those four seasons, the Giants went 308-340. Evans initially joined the organization in 1994 as a minor-league administrative assistant. Prior to becoming general manager, Evans worked as the team’s director of minor league administration, director of player personnel and vice president of baseball operations.
