A man and woman were hurt while sleeping inside their El Cajon home after a sedan crashed through their wall and struck them early Tuesday morning, according to police.
First responders from the El Cajon Police Department and Heartland Fire & Rescue received a call around 2:10 a.m. that a car had crashed into a condominium building on Jamacha Road near Granite Hills Drive, police Lt. Kevin Reilly said.
When officials arrived, they found that about 80 percent of the car had entered the home and struck the man and woman while they were in bed, Reilly said.
The woman suffered a minor injury while the man was seriously injured, police said. They were both taken to a hospital.
The driver, 26, was uninjured and stayed at the scene to speak with investigators, Reilly said. He passed field sobriety checks and was later released.
Investigators said they believe he lost control of the car while driving too quickly through a curve in the road just outside the home.
A building inspector was brought in to survey damage to the house.
