Jake E. Lee, a former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, was shot multiple times Tuesday in Las Vegas.
Officers responded to a street shooting around 2:45 a.m. when Lee, 67, was found with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital and admitted to its intensive care unit.
The rocker is expected to fully recover, according to his management.
The incident is under investigation and no arrests have been made, police said.
Lee’s management said the musician was walking his dog when he was shot and the attack appeared to be “completely random.”
Lee played with Ozzy Osbourne in the 1980s, joining the metal singer after the death of Randy Rhodes. He wrote several songs on the albums “Bark at the Moon” and “The Ultimate Sin” before leaving the band.
He was also in the group Badlands with former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen and Eric Singer and later the band Red Dragon Cartel. He also released two solo albums.
“It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today,” Osbourne told TMZ. “It’s just another senseless act of gun violence.
“I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be ok.”
