Mild temperatures expected in Bay Area with slight chance of rain mid-week

Although temperatures are expected to be mild this week after a recent heat wave, forecasters said Sunday that a typical autumn weather was still on hold, with forecasts feeling more like spring.

The National Weather Service Forecast expects temperatures in the mid to high 70s and low 80s throughout most of the week.

Meanwhile, a slight chance of rain is expected on Wednesday, particularly in the North Bay, with light showers likely early in the morning across the Bay Area, according to Dalton Behringer, a NWS meteorologist.

He noted that rainfall amounts will be minimal, measuring just a few hundredths of an inch in most areas. “We may be lucky to get just a few hundredths of an inch or so. It’ll be just a tease of rain,” Behringer said.

Following the rain, a “warm-up” is on the horizon, though it will fall far short of the triple-digit temperatures experienced in some cities earlier this month.

“As we head into the weekend, we expect highs to reach the upper 70s to low 80s inland — across the region — while coastal temperatures may climb into the upper 60s,” Behringer added. He also warned that offshore winds from Friday morning through the weekend could elevate fire danger across the region, which the NWS will be closely monitoring.

In addition, fog was not expected to disrupt the Blue Angels’ final performance of San Francisco Fleet Week this year, following the cancellation of their Saturday show, due to unsafe weather conditions caused by the notorious San Francisco fog.
