Wylie ISD Approves 26-Cent Property Tax Hike for 2024-2025 School Year
According to Abilene Reporter-News, the Wylie Independent School District School Board has approved a new property tax rate for the 2024-2025 school year. Homeowners will now pay $1.1506 for every $100 of property value, which is about 26 cents more than last year. The money will be used for school maintenance, operations, and paying off debts.
Superintendent Joey Light said the state requires the district to use the highest tax rate allowed, or the district could face penalties. He also mentioned that even though taxes are going up, the overall rate is still lower than in 2020. The part of the tax that goes to maintenance is at its lowest level ever.
