TD Bank customers affected by unfair overdraft fees will receive automatic payments or credits from a $32 million settlement, with a final approval hearing set for October 10, 2024.
TD Bank Customers to Receive Payments from $32 Million Overdraft Fee Settlement
According to The US Sun, TD Bank customers who were charged unfair overdraft fees will get money from a $32 million settlement. These fees, known as APSN fees, happened when people made transactions that were approved when they had money in their account, but the fees were charged later when the account balance went negative. TD Bank did not admit they did anything wrong, but they agreed to pay the settlement to end the lawsuit.
About $22 million of the settlement will go to customers who paid these fees between June 27, 2019, and September 30, 2022. If you still have a TD Bank account, the money will show up as a credit in your account. If you no longer have an account, you will get a check in the mail. The rest of the money, $10.25 million, will be used to lower balances that people still owe because of these fees.
