New Jersey Bill Could Allow Up to $1,000 Tax Deduction for E-ZPass Tolls
According to CBS News, a new bill in New Jersey could help drivers who use E-ZPass. If it becomes law, people could deduct up to $1,000 from their state income taxes for tolls paid with E-ZPass. This would cover tolls on New Jersey roads and interstate bridges and tunnels but not fines for toll violations.
The bill is sponsored by Senators James Holzapfel and Patrick Diegnan Jr. They say it will help people deal with rising transportation costs, especially since the state gasoline tax has recently gone up. They want to give commuters a break on some of their toll expenses.

The bill was introduced in January and sent to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. However, the committee has not discussed it in recent meetings. It is unclear when the bill will be reviewed again.
