Tallahassee Secures $21.5 Million Grant for Electric Vehicle Stations, Park Upgrades, and More
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the city of Tallahassee is expected to receive funding that almost $21.5 million in grant money, which will be discussed at the next city commission meeting. This money will be used for different projects like adding more electric vehicle charging stations, improving parks, and supporting the Tallahassee Police Department. Commissioners will vote on these grants, and the decisions will be made just one day after the primary election, which could change who is in charge of these projects.
A large part of the funds, about $15.2 million, will go towards building three new electric vehicle charging stations across the city. Other grants include $68,000 for a new playground at San Luis Park, $500,000 to build an artificial turf field at the Meadows Soccer Complex, and over $4.4 million to restore springs at the Thomas P. Smith Water Reclamation Facility. These projects are meant to improve community spaces and protect the environment in Tallahassee.

Tallahassee Police and Infrastructure Projects to Benefit from $106K Grant and Land Sales
The Tallahassee Police Department will receive funding of $106,413 for new equipment and supplies. There are also smaller amounts of money set aside for safety inspections, buying tools for infrastructure work, and selling city-owned land. The money from these land sales will be used to help build the International Processing Facility at the airport. The city commission meeting where these decisions will be made will take place at City Hall, with a public hearing scheduled for later in the evening.
