Colorado Launches SNAP Produce Bonus Program for Healthier Eating with 100% Refunds on Eligible Foods
According to Western Slope Now, Colorado is starting a new program to help people who get SNAP benefits buy more healthy food. The SNAP Produce Bonus program gives a 100% refund for money spent on certain fruits and vegetables using an EBT card. Participants will automatically get a bonus of up to $20 per purchase, with a monthly limit of $60, without needing to sign up separately.
The program covers fresh, frozen, and dried fruits and vegetables, as well as dried beans, as long as they don’t have added salt, sugar, or fat. This pilot program, which also includes Louisiana and Washington, aims to make it easier for people to eat healthier. The bonus money will go directly onto participants’ EBT cards.
