How to Claim Your Share of the $8.8 Million MCG Health Data Breach Settlement
According to The US Sun, MCG Health, a healthcare company, has agreed to pay $8.8 million in a settlement after a data breach that exposed sensitive patient information, such as Social Security numbers and medical records. The breach happened in February 2020, leading to a class action lawsuit claiming that the company could have avoided the incident with better cybersecurity. Although MCG Health did not admit to any wrongdoing, they agreed to pay the settlement to resolve the lawsuit.
People affected by the breach can claim up to $1,500 for regular expenses and up to $10,000 for severe losses like identity theft. Those without documented losses can receive an alternate cash payment. The amount each person gets will depend on how many claims are filed. To get this settlement money, class members need to provide proof such as receipts, invoices, bills, or bank statements.
