Cold Case Breakthrough: 1986 Murder of Prostitute Cathy Small Linked to Convicted Serial Killer
It wasn’t until 2019 that investigators made a breakthrough in the case when they discovered a connection to a 63-year-old man who had died in his home. Authorities found disturbing photos and evidence of women who had been assaulted and held captive inside his home. The investigation led them to Cathy Small’s case file, which revealed the presence of two men, including William Suff, a convicted serial killer known as the “Riverside Prostitute Killer” and the “Lake Elsinore Killer.” Suff, who was convicted in 1995 for the murder of 12 women in Riverside County and was sentenced to death, confessed to the crime during a two-day interrogation.
