According to FoxLA, Los Angeles is a city with many great things. People come here to enjoy the beach, watch movies, and listen to music. But, LA has a problem. There is a lot of crime in the city. Some bad things happen during the day, and people get worried. Even though the police department says that some crimes went down last summer, it’s still a big problem.

The Most Dangerous Neighborhoods in LA

PropertyClub has released a list of the top 10 most dangerous neighborhoods in Los Angeles, based on crime rates. Coming in at number one is Downtown LA, where the crime rate is 530% higher than the national average. The neighborhood is plagued by the homeless crisis, pickpocketing, and robberies. Other areas on the list include West Adams, Wholesale District/Skid Row, Hollywood, South Los Angeles, Compton, Watts, Koreatown, Fashion District, and North Hollywood.

The Shocking Statistics: How Safe is LA?

The statistics are alarming, with some areas having a 1 in 15 chance of becoming a victim of a crime. For example, in West Adams, gun violence, robbery, assault, and theft are common occurrences. In Skid Row, the area’s “F” safety rating is a testament to its dire situation. With an average crime occurring every 2 hours and 5 minutes, residents have a 300% higher likelihood of experiencing a home robbery without a security system.

Some areas, such as West Covina and Glendale, have been ranked among the safest in the nation. Orange County was also named the safest large county in California. As such, finding safe and desirable neighborhoods in LA is possible.
