Peachtree City Teen Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder
Co-Defendants Await Trial in Tragic Shooting Case
According to True Crime News, in a tragic case from Peachtree City, 19-year-old Jacobean Brown has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing 15-year-old Madison Gesswein. On August 7, 2024 a judge gave Brown the maximum sentence after he was found guilty of murder aggravated assault, and having a gun during a crime. Brown will also serve an additional six years. Gesswein was found dead in her bedroom on February 21, 2023 after being shot in the head.
The tragedy unfolded after an argument between Gesswein and Brown who had been texting her along with two other men Justus Smith and Yeshua Mathis. On the night of February 20, 2023 Brown, Smith, and Mathis allegedly took a loaded 9 mm gun and cleaning supplies and broke into Gesswein’s apartment. According to reports Brown sneaked in through her bedroom window and shot her while she was asleep. Her mother found her body the next morning adding to the grief of the family and community.

Co-Defendants Smith and Mathis Set to Stand Trial in Gesswein Murder Case
Smith and Mathis who are also facing charges of murder felony murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession will go on trial starting September 9, 2024. The case has been widely covered and has left the community in shock as they deal with the loss of the young victim and seek justice. The trials for Smith and Mathis will be closely watched as the search for answers and accountability continues.
