On August 8, 2023, police responded to a call about an unresponsive baby, Ethan Rosa Deras, who had been left in a hot car for about three hours. Despite efforts to revive him, Ethan was pronounced dead at the hospital, with his body temperature reaching a deadly 108 degrees. The death was ruled a homicide, leading to an investigation by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

After gathering all the evidence, police arrested Deras on August 2, 2024, and charged her with murder.
