March Against Gun Violence in Downtown Detroit

End Gun Violence Michigan is enhancing its Silence the Violence Month of Action campaign with a Memorial March this weekend in downtown Detroit. This annual event is designed to raise awareness and encourage action against gun violence. It features marches, resource fairs, gunlock giveaways, and more. The march will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday at 231 East Grand Blvd, according to the report of Detroit Story Fest.

Pastor Calls for Action on Gun Violence

Pastor Barry Randolph who initiated the Silence the Violence march is a strong advocate for tougher measures to combat gun violence. “Gun violence isn’t just an unfortunate event. It’s not like the weather. Gun violence occurs due to laws and politics in Lansing and Washington D.C.,” he emphasized calling for stronger legislation.

Michigan’s New Gun Safety Laws – A Step Forward, But More Needs to Be Done to Prevent Future Tragedies

In February, Michigan legislators enacted significant new gun safety laws. These laws mandate the safe storage of firearms, universal background checks for all gun purchases and restrictions on gun ownership. While these measures are a positive step forward and Pastor Randolph and the community believe that more can be done to ensure safety and prevent future tragedies.
