VINES’ new “Double Up Food Bucks” program gives SNAP recipients a free box of fresh produce for every box they buy, helping both families and local farmers, thanks to funding from Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo.

VINES Launches ‘Double Up Food Bucks’ Program to Provide Free Produce for SNAP Recipients in Binghamton

According to the Binghamton Homepage, VINES, a nonprofit in Binghamton, NY, is starting a new program to help people who use SNAP get fresh vegetables for free. Through the “Double Up Food Bucks” initiative, if SNAP users buy a weekly box of produce from VINES, they will get a second box for free.

The program was funded by Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, who is excited about it. She said that this program will make it easier for SNAP users to get healthy food and help local farmers find new customers.
