VINES Launches ‘Double Up Food Bucks’ Program in Binghamton to Boost Fresh Produce Access for SNAP Recipients
According to Binghamton Hompage, in Binghamton, NY, VINES is starting a new program to help people who use SNAP get fresh fruits and vegetables. The program, called ‘Double Up Food Bucks,’ works with the Field and Fork Network. When SNAP users buy a weekly box of produce through VINES, they get a second box for free. This Double Up Food Bucks program is funded by Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, who is excited about helping people and supporting local farms.
Each week, VINES gives out about 300 boxes of fresh produce. With this new Double Up Food Bucks program, SNAP recipients can get more vegetables without spending extra money. It also helps local farmers by bringing in new customers who might not have bought from them before.
