The incident occurred near 35th and Oklahoma around 1 a.m. Surveillance footage showed a black car at a gas pump. The driver and passenger left the car running inside the store and someone soon stole it, according to the report of FOX 6 News.
Stolen Car Crash Damages Home, Forces Family Evacuation
The stolen car hit a truck and crashed into a house. Neighbor Julio Reyes, who heard fire engines described the chaos. The crash damaged the home’s gas meter causing a leak that required the family to leave for several hours. The video also showed the car’s owner running out of the store as police arrived.
Gas station workers said first responders had to remove the driver from the car. The Milwaukee Police Department has not yet shared details on the driver’s condition or any arrests. Residents including Reyes, re calling for tougher measures to prevent car thefts and similar incidents.
