According to the report of Marca, some U.S. cities are offering up to $1,300 for people who buy e-bikes to help make transportation cleaner and meet Net Zero goals. In Salt Lake City, Utah; St. Louis Park, Minnesota; and Portland, Oregon, residents can get these rebates, which vary based on where they live and what they buy. This plan aims to cut traffic, pollution, and carbon emissions, giving city residents a cheaper way to get around.
Finance expert Kevin Thompson says this plan can reduce traffic accidents and lower insurance costs. It also offers an affordable option for those who usually use public transportation. In Minnesota, the rebate started on July 2, 2024, and residents must have filed their taxes by December 31, 2022, and meet income requirements. In Portland, a similar program will start in the summer of 2025, targeting low and middle-income earners.
