$55,000 Cap and Beyond: New Mexico Seeks Public Feedback on Clean Car Tax Credit Program

New Mexico Seeks Public Input on Clean Car Tax Credit Rules Before Program Launch

Proposed Tax Credits for Electric Vehicles and Charging Stations in New Mexico – Key Details and Eligibility

According to the report of KRQE News, New Mexico wants feedback on its new Clean Car Tax Credit Program, which was started in 2024 to encourage people to use electric cars and install charging stations. The Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) is asking the public for their thoughts on the rules before the program starts accepting applications. This feedback will help make sure the program works well and meets people’s needs.

The proposed rules would offer tax credits for electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, fuel cell vehicles, and charging stations for homes and businesses. New cars costing $55,000 or less and used cars worth $25,000 or less would be eligible for the credit. The program will apply to purchases made between May 15, 2024, and December 31, 2029.
