According to the report of Aol., a $2 million tax credit will help turn the old Baker Brother’s Grocery building in downtown Zanesville into a mixed-use space. Justin Wagner of Eight Main LLC is in charge of the project, which will add office, commercial, and residential areas to the historic building at 8 and 12 Main St. This renovation aims to boost the downtown area and attract more investment.
The renovation will keep important parts of the building, like the tin ceilings and the old freight elevator. The first two floors will be used for businesses and offices, while the top floors will be turned into apartments. The new space will include 12,000 square feet of office space and 38 short-term housing units.

Zanesville’s $9.4 Million Downtown Revitalization Project to Begin in December 2024, Aiming to Boost Local Economy
Work on the building is set to start in December 2024 and finish by November 2025. The $9.4 million project will be funded with tax credits, equity, and bank loans. The city’s Community Development Director, Matt Schley, believes this project will help improve downtown Zanesville and boost the local economy.
