According to the report of Fox 2 Now, Missouri Governor Mike Parson recently highlighted the urgent need for better childcare, urging his successor to prioritize it. The state loses over $1 billion annually due to a shortage of childcare facilities, especially in 94 out of 114 counties, forcing many parents to leave their jobs to care for their children.
The state legislature failed to pass tax credits that could have helped childcare providers and families, resulting in the closure of 1,100 childcare facilities in the past two years. Senator Lauren Arthur from Kansas City expressed frustration over this decision and encouraged voters to pay attention to candidates’ views on making childcare more affordable and accessible in upcoming elections.
