Body Parts Found in NJ Home Linked to Murder of Local Man
A troubling investigation in Ocean County has led to several arrests after finding a homeowner’s remains during a different death case. It started on June 27 when Manchester Township Police found 25-year-old Gabriella Caroleo shot and dying. The main suspect, 35-year-old Maxwell Johnston, was found at a home in Toms River on July 5. After a standoff, Johnston died by suicide, and 29-year-old Elizabeth Mascarelli, who had helped hi, was arrested.
Further checks into Johnston’s stay at the Ravenwood Drive home showed a darker story. Police found signs that a murder happened there on July 3. Searching another property in Jackson Township on July 12, they found the dismembered body of 56-year-old homeowner Kerry Rollason. The medical examiner said Rollason died from gunshots and blunt force injuries. Prosecutors believe Johnston killed Rollason with Mascarelli and others helping to dismember and hide the body, according to the report of True Crime Daily.
