Michigan’s New Child Tax Credit: $1,500 Pregnancy Payment and $500 Monthly Support Explained
According to Marca, Michigan is introducing a new Child Tax Credit (CTC) aimed at supporting families in Flint. Pregnant women in Flint will receive a $1,500 payment during their pregnancy, regardless of their income. This initiative aims to assist families with the expenses of raising children, aiming to reduce poverty and enhance the well-being of children in the community.
In addition to the $1,500 payment, the program gives $500 per month for the first 12 months of the child’s life. This means new families in Flint can get up to $7,500 in total support. To get this money, pregnant women need to sign up for the Rx Kids program, which started on January 10, 2024. The sign-up process is simple and doesn’t require answering any questions.
