CalKIDS Program Offers Up to $1,500 for California Families to Save for College

According to The US Sun, the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program, or CalKIDS program, is giving families up to $1,500 to help save for their children’s college costs. This program aims to make college more affordable for families in California by providing money to eligible newborns and young children. To qualify, children must live in California and have been born on or after July 1, 2022, with extra help available for some low-income families.

Since it started in 2022, the CalKIDS program has been encouraging parents to think about their children’s future education early, which can greatly increase the chances of kids going to college. Run by Noah Lightman, the program helps families save for tuition and covers all types of education after high school, including two-year and four-year colleges, private and public universities, and vocational schools.
