Thieves find these parts lucrative due to their easy removal potentially selling them for profit.
Thieves are not just taking tailgates but also valuable components from newer models like Chevy and Ford F-150s. Costa Mesa police have reported over 20 thefts mostly from Toyota Tacomas. Surveillance footage captured one theft in under a minute, highlighting the thieves efficiency.
