Scammers Target EBT Cards – Kentucky CHFS Takes Action Against Unauthorized Access
According to WAVE News, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) is currently addressing theft surge cases impacting individuals receiving EBT and SNAP benefits. Since October 2nd, CHFS has received 194 reports of theft. The issue came to light when WAVE News was alerted by viewers who discovered missing funds, with some recipients receiving emails indicating unauthorized access to their EBT cards.
CHFS spokesperson Susan Dunlap explained that scammers are putting illegal devices on ATMs and card machines to steal EBT card information. They use this information to make fake EBT cards and take the benefits. This has caused a lot of worry for people who depend on these funds for their needs.
