According to the article True Crime News, a man from Missouri, Gavino McJunkins-Macias, has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Kenia Lopez, in rural Kansas. He then drove her body across state lines in a camper trailer before reporting her death. On June 13, at about 11:35 a.m., officers from the Carthage Police Department responded to a call about a dead person inside a camper trailer on North Main Street in Carthage, Missouri. They identified the 24-year-old victim as Lopez and declared her death a homicide.

Gavino McJunkins-Macias Faces Second-Degree Murder Charge After Allegedly Killing Wife During Kansas Camping Trip

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office claims that Gavino McJunkins-Macias, 23, killed Lopez during a camping trip in rural Louisburg, Kansas, and then drove her body to Carthage in a camper. A Carthage Police detective said in a report that Gavino McJunkins-Macias “committed a violent murder” and left Lopez’s body unattended while he talked with family and an attorney. Surveillance footage showed a truck pulling the camper on the morning of June 13, arriving around 8 a.m. and leaving without the camper about 25 minutes later.

Gavino McJunkins-Macias was first charged with abandoning a corpse but now also faces a charge of second-degree murder. He is being held in the Jasper County Jail in Missouri with a $1 million bond. This tragic event has left two young children without their mother, highlighting the devastating impact of this crime.
