New Mexico to Provide Extra $135 in SNAP Benefits to Help Reduce Food Insecurity

According to the New Mexico News, in June, 11,834 individuals in New Mexico are set to receive an additional $135 in food assistance through SNAP, as reported by New Mexico News. The state’s Human Services Department (HSD) has collaborated with the Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) to augment food support for elderly adults and individuals with disabilities already enrolled in SNAP. This initiative aims to alleviate food insecurity across the state.

The extra $135 SNAP benefit will be given throughout June to those who got the SNAP State Supplement in February. The money for this extra SNAP benefit comes from the state general fund. People who qualify don’t need to do anything; the extra money will be added to their EBT cards automatically.
