According to the article in Phoenix Business Journals, Linda Eales started Harvest Eco-Salvage Corp. to save usable building materials from being thrown away. Last year, they saved over 110 million pounds of materials and helped property owners get more than $24 million in tax benefits. They work with a luxury home appraiser to figure out how much the donated materials are worth, which can sometimes lead to big tax benefit deductions for homeowners.
Devin Schulte, who used to work with Harvest Eco-Salvage, now runs Repurposed Environmental Solutions. His nonprofit also saves building materials and helps homeowners get tax benefit deductions. They focus on places like Paradise Valley, Arcadia, and Scottsdale, but they’re starting to work in other states too. They even recently donated materials from an entire apartment community, showing how much impact their work can have on recycling and tax benefits.
