According to the article by San Antonio Report, San Antonio City Council members might not see a salary increase soon. The mayor’s commission suggested a salary increase from $45,700 to $80,000 yearly, but Mayor Nirenberg isn’t sure about it. He thinks it might be better to tie pay to how much it costs to live in the city.

San Antonio Council Considers Alternatives – Tying Pay to City’s Average Income and Exploring Retirement Benefits

Instead of rushing into a big salary increase, they’re looking at other options. One idea is to connect pay to the average income in the city. Another is to give council members retirement benefits. The council has until August 19 to decide on any changes before they go to the voters in November.
