Shenker Academy Teacher Faces Allegations of Child Abuse and Improper Swaddling
According to the published article in True Crime Daily, a daycare teacher in Las Vegas, Eryka Westover, is accused of hurting children at Shenker Academy. The police started investigating after a mother reported that Westover “body-slammed” her daughter during nap time. Video evidence from February 5 shows Westover slamming the child into a cot and saying, “Yes, I just body-slammed you. You’re fine. Go to bed.” Reports also say Westover tightly swaddled the child, which is not allowed at the school.

More reports revealed other cases of abuse. Assistants said Westover slapped and pinched students and used a hose on a child who didn’t want to be sprayed, making the child fall. She also threw and kicked balls at the children when they got hurt and made mean comments. Parents said their children didn’t want to go to school and came home with bruises, welts, and cuts, describing punishments like running laps. Westover denied having problems with students before, blaming the issues on children born during COVID. However, when asked about the incidents, she admitted to being angry and using a bad tone. On May 17, Westover was arrested and charged with felony child abuse or neglect and is now in the Clark County Detention Center.
