California’s State Senate is making new rules to help Black families who were hurt in the past, like creating an office and money fund, but some people worry about how much it will cost and if it will help.

Discussing Plans to Give Reparations to Black Families Affected

According to the published article in AP News, California’s State Senate is making big decisions about reparations for Black families who faced unfair treatment in the past. They want to create a special agency to help these families find out if they can get money from the state. They also want to set up a fund to pay back Black families for land the government took from them unfairly.

These ideas are a result of a special group’s suggestions on how California can fix its history of racism. The State Senate’s vote mostly followed party lines, with Democrats supporting the bills. But some people think the state is promising too much when it doesn’t have a lot of money. They worry about the costs of running the new agency and investigating claims from families.
