Family’s Swift Action Leads Authorities to Assault Scene

According to True Crime Daily in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a troubling incident has emerged involving five individuals who now face charges for allegedly brutally attacking a 29-year-old man using a baseball bat, brass knuckles, and a skillet which resulted in him suffering a skull fracture. This assault unfolded on August 19, 2023, prompting an urgent response from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office after deputies were notified about the incident in the Stoney Creek community. Upon arrival, emergency responders provided immediate medical attention to the victim at the scene before swiftly transferring him to a nearby hospital due to the seriousness of his head injury leaving him unable to communicate with law enforcement.

Reports indicate that following the assault the victim managed to contact his family for help at the boat ramp on Wilbur Dam Road. Promptly responding to his distress call concerned relatives located him and transported him to the Carter County EMS station. There, the victim recounted a horrifying ordeal at the hands of multiple attackers armed with dangerous weapons. Providing crucial details to deputies the victim’s family identified the alleged perpetrators guiding authorities to the scene of the assault where they discovered vital evidence including the victim’s vehicle a pool of blood and a broken skillet.

Community Seeks Justice and Safety Measures Following Brutal Assault

Following an exhaustive investigation a Carter County jury indicted five suspects for their involvement in the assault. The accused individuals including Jerry Carden Jr., Meesha Williams, Kelvin Bradley Jr., Daniel Shearl, and Jeffery Brooks Jr. now face an array of charges ranging from conspiracy to commit second-degree murder to aggravated assault reflecting the severity of the alleged offenses. Law enforcement officers made subsequent arrests, and four accused individuals posted a bond. At the same time, Daniel Shearl remains in custody at the Carter County Detention Center awaiting further legal proceedings.
