According to Marca, homeowners in New York are getting help with their expenses through the New York School Tax Relief Program (STAR) which is giving out $1,400 payments to ease living costs in the busy city. Unlike the nationwide stimulus plan, this New York School Tax Relief Program is just for homeowners in New York offering direct financial aid to tackle school tax bills.

Through the New York School Tax Relief Program, homeowners can receive either the Basic New York School Tax Relief Program payment or the Enhanced New York School Tax Relief Program payment, with average amounts of $778 and $1,407 respectively. These rebates, aimed at lessening the burden of school tax bills are expected to arrive by September 11. Eligibility for these benefits depends on meeting specific criteria like registering for the New York School Tax Relief Program, owning a home, and earning less than $250,000 annually for the Basic New York School Tax Relief Program with additional provisions for those aged 65 and older by the end of 2024.
