According to Southwest Journal, once upon a time, Wisconsin was all about cheese and football. But now, some places there have become quite riskiest town. RoadSnacks looked at crime numbers from the FBI for 2024 and found that while Wisconsin overall has more crime than other places in the U.S., some areas are worse than others. Big cities like Milwaukee and Madison are struggling the most but surprisingly the riskiest town spot is a small town with fewer than 10,000 people. Even though Wisconsin isn’t one of the top ten most dangerous states it’s clear these places need help. Maybe more police, security cameras, or programs to help people with drugs could make things better. It’s important to know about these dangerous places before making any big decisions.

Riskiest Towns In Wisconsin
Beloit
Beloit, a city near Madison isn’t the safest place to be. It’s in the top ten for both violent and property crimes in Wisconsin. Despite its nice farmer’s market, there were 878 thefts there in 2020. Plus, there were lots of car thefts, break-ins, and even the second-highest murder rate in the state.
North of Milwaukee
North of Milwaukee is Brown Deer, a small village that’s not as peaceful as it seems. It has a lot of property crimes for such a small place with car thefts happening often. Before having a picnic in one of its parks people should know about its crime rates and be careful.
Milwaukee
Milwaukee known for its beer and motorcycles stands as the most dangerous city in Wisconsin when it comes to violent crime. Residents face a 1 in 62 chance of experiencing serious offenses such as murder or assault. Though property crime isn’t as prevalent, incidents like break-ins occur frequently, emphasizing the importance of selecting safer areas to live.
Rice Lake
Rice Lake, a small city has some safety problems despite its size. There were a lot of rape cases reported there in 2020 making it one of the top places for that in Wisconsin. Plus, there’s a big chance of property crimes happening too, so people need to be careful there.
La Crosse
In La Crosse by the Mississippi River, there’s a lot of trading going on. But there’s also a lot of theft, like stealing things and cars. Even though it has nice parks and museums, people still need to be aware of the crime there.
West Allis
West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee isn’t the safest place either. There were lots of burglaries and car thefts there in 2020. But what’s more worrying is the violent crime like assaults and robberies, happening often. So people should be cautious, especially if they’re out late at night.
