Wilkes County Commissioner Surrenders to Assault Charges Amidst Resignation Calls
Greene Released on Bond After Turning Himself in at County Magistrate’s Office
According to Daily Caller, Wilkes County Commissioner Stoney Scott Greene turned himself in on Monday facing charges of assault amid growing calls for him to step down. Wilkes County Commissioner surrendered at the Wilkes County Magistrate’s Office and was released on a $1,500 bond. Greene has faced several controversies including an old charge related to a dogfighting event.

Resignation Sparks Efforts Against Animal Abuse
Despite failing to win the Republican nomination for North Carolina’s House District 94, the Wilkes County Commissioner has denied wrongdoing in his past arrest. However, Animal Wellness Action has accused him of breeding and selling dogs for fighting. Wilkes County Commissioner resigned as chair of the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners in March 2024 which led to a renewed focus on fighting animal abuse in the community.
