In Doña Ana County, New Mexico a former deputy named Michael Martinez he has admitted to doing very wrong things while on the job. He confessed to hurting a woman he arrested and trying to hide what he did. Now, he could go to prison for up to 10 years and be supervised for three more years, according to the report of True Crime Daily.
This all happened in April 2023 when Martinez worked for the sheriff’s office. He arrested a woman who was in a car accident and thought she was driving drunk and recklessly. But instead of doing his job properly, he did something terrible to her in his patrol car after taking her to a hospital.
Martinez attempted to destroy video evidence of his misconduct captured in his patrol car, but was apprehended and arrested in September 2023. Facing severe charges, he risked a life sentence if found guilty at trial. Authorities condemned his actions, stressing that harming someone in custody is intolerable and that all individuals regardless of accusation merit respect. They underscored that abusing authority would not shield Martinez from accountability.
