Truckers Nationwide Eligible for Payout in $75M Data Breach Settlement with BNSF Railway Company
$75M Data Breach Settlement Offers Truckers Up to $1,000 Each – Deadline Approaching!
Truckers all across America are about to get some extra money thanks to a settlement of $75 million in a case involving BNSF Railway Company, according to the report of The US Sun. This company was accused of collecting truckers’ fingerprints illegally in Illinois. Even though BNSF denies doing anything wrong, they agreed to settle the lawsuit. Truckers who used special gates between April 4, 2014, and March 5, 2024 could get up to $1,000 each.
Usually, when people get money from settlements, they have to prove they lost something. But in this case, truckers won’t have to show any proof or fill out any forms. They just need to make sure their tax info is correct and give their Social Security number. The money will be sent to their last-known addresses but they need to cash the checks within 120 days.
The checks will be sent out about 60 days after the court approves the settlement. But here’s the catch if truckers don’t give their tax details they might not get all the money. Also, if they don’t want the money, they can say so before May 7. And if they have any complaints about the settlement they need to speak up by the same deadline.
