America’s Most Violent Cities
According to Southwest Journal, violent crime is a big problem in some cities. St. Louis, Missouri, has the most violent crime in the country with almost 2,000 incidents for every 100,000 people. This happens because of things like not having enough jobs and not enough money and problems between different racial groups.

Other cities like Baltimore, Detroit, and Memphis also have a lot of violent crime. In Baltimore, gangs and drugs make the situation worse, along with not having enough money and drugs being a big problem. Detroit used to be a good city but now has a lot of crime because people don’t have jobs and there isn’t enough money. Memphis has problems with gangs and people not having enough money.
Even cities on the west coast like Oakland, California, have their own issues with violent crime. In Oakland not having enough money and not being able to afford a place to live make things hard. Also, people don’t trust the police, which makes things even more difficult. All these cities need to find ways to make things better like making sure everyone has a fair chance and working together to keep neighborhoods safe.
