Maine Rent Relief Program $800 Monthly Aid for Two Years to Combat Housing Crisis

Maine Housing Launches $18 Million Rent Relief Program: 2,400 Recipients Expected to Benefit

Maine started a new program to help people who can’t afford their rent and it gives $800 each month for two years, according to the published article of The US Sun. The government put aside $18 million for this in their budget. This is to stop people from losing their homes because they can’t pay rent.

There’s been a big problem with finding affordable homes in Maine. Rents and prices for houses keep going up, and there aren’t enough homes. People who don’t earn much money struggle the most to find a place to live. Americans have been asking for help with rent for a long time.

The government agency Maine Housing will run the program and think about 2,400 people could get help. A politician named Drew Gattine thinks this will really help Americans who don’t earn much money.
