Highlights North Dakota’s Dangerous Areas

Federal agents have shut down another illegal drug-growing operation in Maine while investigators continue to look into foreign involvement in the drug trade across different states. Meanwhile, a new report from Southwest Journal highlights the most dangerous areas in North Dakota. Researchers found that these places have high rates of violent crimes and property offenses urging people to be careful when making important decisions.

5 Most Dangerous Areas in North Dakota

Fargo

In Fargo, North Dakota is known for its movie fame but crime rates have risen making it the state’s most dangerous city in 2022. Daily car thefts and burglaries occurred putting residents at risk of property crime. Rates for violent crime weren’t much better with high occurrences of rape and murder making it concerning for both residents and visitors.

Devils Lake

Devils Lake situated in northeastern North Dakota and saw a significant increase in violent crime earning it a reputation matching its name. Topping the state in rape cases and ranking second highest in overall crime rates and the city’s statistics were above the national average. Despite the appeal of its lake people must remain vigilant about their safety and belongings.

Mandan

Mandan, located across the Missouri River from Bismarck was identified as the third most dangerous place in North Dakota. Despite its scenic beauty but crime was rampant with high rates of murder, rape, and property offenses. Nearly 1,000 property crimes were reported in 2020 raising concerns among residents about their safety.

Wahpeton

Wahpeton home to the world’s largest catfish, faced a less charming reality as the fourth most dangerous city in North Dakota. Although not particularly violent, Wahpeton struggled with a significant property crime rate, leaving residents vulnerable to victimization. Located an hour south of Fargo residents found it prudent to invest in home security systems.

Williston

In Williston despite a slight decrease in crime rates challenges persisted particularly regarding violent crime. Residents faced notable odds of being victims of violent assault, including rape and murder. As this bustling city continued to expand authorities worked diligently to address crime concerns urging both residents and visitors to remain cautious especially when exploring historical sites like Fort Union Trading Post.
