According to Southwest Journal, if you’re from Massachusetts, you know it’s not all about Boston’s history or Salem’s witches. Our state has some riskiest places too. RoadSnacks just released a list of the riskiest places in Massachusetts for 2022 urging caution before big decisions. They looked at crime data from 240 cities finding some surprising trends. Massachusetts has more arson cases but fewer murders and assaults compared to other states. While we’re not among the top ten most dangerous states Springfield is one of the riskiest cities nationwide. Whether we need more hugs or better police it’s important to check out the list of Massachusetts’ most riskiest places for any surprises.

Top 4 Riskiest Places
Holyoke
Holyoke has been the riskiest place for three years straight. Even though it looks calm near the river and mountains its crime rate is very high much higher than the state average. In 2020, Americans in Holyoke had a big chance of having their things stolen. Violent crimes like assaults and murders happen almost every day making it a riskiest place to live.
Springfield
Springfield is another city in Massachusetts with a lot of crime. It’s famous for Smith & Wesson guns and Dr. Seuss but it’s also known for being the riskiest place. Springfield has the highest rate of violent crimes in Massachusetts. In 2020, there were 18 murders and Americans had a high chance of being victims of violent crimes.
North Adams
North Adams might seem like a nice place for tourists and culture but it’s getting a reputation for crime too. While violent crimes are not so common there are lots of burglaries. This means American homes are being broken into more often making residents worried about their safety.
Worcester
Worcester is a big city in Massachusetts but it’s also one of the riskiest places. Despite being in the center of the state Worcester has a lot of violent crimes like murders. In 2020, there were about one murder every month and over 1,000 violent crimes in total. Residents need to be careful to stay safe in Worcester.
