Fatal DUI Crash Results in Two-Year Sentence for Briana Day
Victim Maricarmen Leon Remembered Following Tragic Accident
According to East Bay Times Briana Day a 30-year-old from Concord has been given a two-year punishment for driving drunk and causing a fatal crash in 2022. The fatal crash happened on July 30 and led to the death of Maricarmen Leon who was leaving a bar in Walnut Creek. Day crashed her pickup truck into Leon and another person before hitting a cement pillar.

Maricarmen Leon was loved by many as a wonderful daughter, sister, cousin and friend. She worked at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek and was known for her happy personality and hard work. Her death has deeply affected her family and friends leaving them with a big emptiness. Even though Briana Day caused a lot of pain she didn’t go to jail until now. She got a two-year punishment but only had to spend one day in jail because of the time she already spent out of jail. This case reminds us of how serious drunk driving is and why it’s important for people to be responsible for their actions especially when they hurt others.
