Wyoming’s Property Tax Refund Program Opens for Applications

Teton County Leads in Tax Refunds

According to Buffalo Bulletin, the property tax refund program for homeowners in Wyoming is now open with an extra $20 million added by the Legislature. Governor Mark Gordon thanked the Legislature for supporting the program aiming to help those hit hardest by increased assessments. Last year, over 9,000 families benefited from the program receiving over $8 million in tax refunds with an average tax refund of about $938 statewide.

Teton County leads in statewide tax refund with property owners receiving $1.57 million last year. The program approved 442 applicants with an average refund of $3,568 per application. Some residents got exemptions from both state and county programs with 155 applicants receiving an average refund of $5,459. Eligibility has expanded, especially for those with incomes below 145% of the median. Applications are due by June 3 and Teton County residents can apply for their program in May potentially getting a full refund. Last year, the county gave back over $870,000 in tax refunds indicating significant relief for eligible homeowners.

Wyoming’s Property Tax Refund Program Opens with Increased Funding

Furthermore, expanding eligibility criteria and adding $20 million more demonstrates Wyoming‘s commitment to fair relief for homeowners. Teton County‘s success in giving tax refunds shows how the program eases property tax burdens. Residents should apply soon to benefit from both state and county programs.
