Wyoming Property Tax Refund Program Receives $20 Million Boost
Eligibility and Application Process for Wyoming Homeowners
According to Sundance Times, Wyoming homeowners can now get help with their property taxes through the property tax refund program. The Legislature added $20 million to the property tax refund program which assisted 9,000 families last year. The average property tax refund was about $938. This year they expect to help 2,000 more households. The property tax refund program can give you back up to half of your property taxes or 75% of what you paid in 2023.
Governor Mark Gordon thanked the Legislature for supporting the program. To qualify you must have lived in Wyoming for at least five years and have assets below $156,900 per adult in your household. You can apply online or at the local Treasurer’s Office. Make sure to file your application by June 3 and have paid your 2023 taxes in full. You’ll need documents like tax bills, receipts, and income verification. Brenda Henson from the Department of Revenue said everyone who applied last year will get an application in mid-April. The property tax refund program is here to help ease the burden of property taxes for Wyoming residents. It’s important to take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline to get relief from property tax payments.
