Overcoming Storm Loss: Mississippi Families Eligible for SNAP Replacement Benefits – Must Know!

SNAP Replacement Benefits of Lost Food After Jackson Storm

SNAP Replacement Benefits Available for Storm-Affected Families

According to WJTV, after the big storm hit Jackson, Mississippi on April 9th families who get help buying food through SNAP and lost power for more than six hours can ask for help. The Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) says they can get money back for the food they lost because of the storm. This SNAP replacement benefit help also applies if they lost food because of floods, fires, or really bad weather like a storm.

The MDHS says it’s important for families to tell them about the storm within ten days. They made a form that families can fill out online to ask for the SNAP replacement benefit money. But the amount they get back can’t be more than the most they would usually get from SNAP in a month. If families need help with the form or the process they can call the Economic Assistance Customer Service Center. For families who aren’t already getting SNAP replacement benefits help they can apply through their local Human Services Office or online. Th MDHS ese steps are meant to make sure families affected by the storm can still get the food they need. It’s a way for communities to help each other out during tough times like these.
